Newsflash from Sonoma County Water Agency

While water levels were high today in the Russian River estuary (7.5 feet), the mouth is open.  The combination of river flows (approximately 560 cubic feet per second at Hacienda Bridge) and 16-foot ocean swell have resulted in these high water levels.  The swell forecast for this week is for continued large waves, so it’s possible that the mouth could close.  Hopefully, water surface elevations decline before a closure occurs.  We’ll continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. … Keep Reading

The Board of Supervisors requested an extension on public comment on low flow until February 14 2017 (Valentine’s Day!) There are two upcoming opportunities for public comment:   The DEIR is available by going to www.sonomacountywater.org/fish-flow, at Sonoma and Mendocino County libraries and by purchase (flash drive or hard copy) at the Sonoma County Water Agency offices.
